Borne: 26 january 1963 Naarden
Lives in: Leiden
First heard The Beatles: Thanks to my brother. Playing table tennis in the attic and hearing ‘Lady Madonna’ on our favourite radio show. Taped the Red, Blue and White albums, bought Beatles For Sale, R&R Music and Let It Be. I got hooked and wanted to play the songs. So along with my main instrument I learnt how to play bass and guitar.
Fave album: Revolver
Fave song: ’She said, She said’ (just love the sound)
Fave solo album: Ringo (only solo album that includes all 4 Beatles)
Fave Beatle: George (I love watching the ‘Concert For George’)
Fave TV/Video moment: ‘Paperback Writer’ and ‘Rain’ videos.
Although they are boring clips they show a hidden shyness (how are we supposed to move guys) and the quality of the sound and picture is fantastic.
Unforgettable moment: Jam session in Leiden (where I live) where we played Dig a pony, Don´t let me down and You can´t do that (sung by me). Playing with the Mal Evans Memorial Band is also very enjoyable.
Worst moment: Can´t think of anything! The down to earthness of Paul, John with his ascerbic wit, Ringo who can´t dance and George´s humbleness.
Ambition/Dream: To play as many Beatle songs as possible, also play a number of The Who songs and other 60’s bands.
Proud of: My son who has more musical talent than me. Wants to play guitar, I can hardly wait.
